The idea is to let this house have all the characteristics of the chalupa at the first sight. Looking further, an attentive guest will discover secret moves, little un-aligments, small unique details. This is our path to stay in the tradition, infact normally people tend to idealize traditional constructions imaginating them as taken from an architetcture manual. Past constructions are far from beeing all the same. They are all slightly different from eachother, walls are rarerly parallel, angles are rarely orthogonal. The traditional model is clear in the mind of ancient architects as much clear is looking at the landscape, place, position, environment. Looking at the place – the end of a little valley – we thought that would be a good idea to let the house to turn a little bit toward the center of the property. This is the reason of the first variation on the theme of the chalupa: a 15° rotation. Part of the house is parallel to the road and the major part turn to take the most from South-West sun and to look at the garden and landscape. The rotation make also possible to “happen” things in the corners: a shelter at the entrance and a “veranda” in the garden side. Monday, September 28, 2009Place, golden side![]() Walking in this little valley: Looking at the site with the most usual instrument architects and everyone uses, google maps and walks, we can see that this small place is the end of a valley segment with a nice smiley shape. This corner is the first step to walk along the valley looking with eyes up. There is a "golden side" that is the one exposed to the southwest. So, the house will have its longer side at the golden side and it should be a little bit distant from the property border to have some room for looking up to the mountains in both sides and some air around. Proportions and place. ![]() Labels: proportions, shape Tuesday, September 22, 2009A new project start!![]() We will project a new house located in a little valley inside a natural park.
